Notes from the President...  Denis Brumm

It has been some time since we have issued a newsletter but this is not to say that there has not been plenty of activity taking place within the Woods.  This newsletter will be brief for the Association felt it necessary to get the word out on several matters of which the primary one is the pending vote on OAKMONT VIEW V.

First, the association would like to welcome all new residents into the Woods.

Second, current updates on association matters, can be found at our website at www.whitingwoods.org.  See related article in this newsletter.

Third, Oakmont View V’s fate, the proposed massive development of 572 homes in our Verdugo Mountains, will be decided on over the next three weeks.  If you have any concern at all about the negative future impacts this project will have, your attendance at the following meetings is strongly requested.

PLANNING COMMISSION HEARING

Wednesday, February 27th at 6 p.m. – Glendale Civic Auditorium

The Planning Commission will hear testimony on whether the project should be approved and make recommendation to City Council for vote.  This is the first time the public can speak out on the project.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING(s)

Tuesday, March 5th at 6 p.m. – City Council Chambers

The City Council will hear testimony from all interested parties. The vote shall be taken to approve or deny this project at either this meeting or on March. 12th.   This is the most important opportunity you will ever have to let the council know how you feel about Oakmont View V.

Checkout our website for links to related websites pertaining to Oakmont View V.  Content of Final EIR has just been posted to website.  It is critical that the community show up in strong numbers at these meetings.  It is not necessary that you speak but I will assure you that when you are in attendance, you will be compelled to speak out.  If you have difficulty coordinating transportation to these events, email me at djbrumm@jps.net  and we will coordinate a carpool.

Fourth, Checkout FireWise article for it will be a term that we will all becoming very familiar with.

Hope to see you at the Oakmont hearings for our future depends upon your support.

See you around in the Woods and have a great spring.
